About the 8-week program:
According to the Centers for Disease Control, one in four adults over age 65 falls each year in the United States, causing 41,000 deaths a year and 3 million emergency visits in 2021. By 2030, the projected cost of falls in the United States is projected to exceed 101 billion dollars.
Most falls are preventable when approached proactively. This program is a comprehensive multi-modality fitness and health approach to help participants attain stability, core stability, balance, foot health, and ankle mobility. It also addresses kinesthetic awareness, gait, mindfulness, home and outdoor safety, and full-body strength.
This course is designed for people 55 and older and all ability levels. Many of the exercises and activities can be adapted to a chair, and modifications will be shown for participants with health and biomechanical issues.
